INDUSTRIES
& MINING
The
provisional results of Annual Survey of Industries shows
that in the year 2000-01 there were 14087 registered working
factories in Gujarat State. These factories together had
a total fixed capital worth Rs. 71751 crores, provided
gainful employment to 7.48 lakh persons and distributed
Rs. 4856 crores as labour cost to employees, consumed
inputs worth Rs. 103703 crores, produced Rs. 128962 crores
worth of goods and services (valued at ex-factory prices)
and contributed by way of value added by manufacture Rs.
19149 crores to the national income. |

At the end of the year 2001-02, 40580 joint stock companies
were registered with an authorized capital of Rs. 34269.37
crore.
The important minerals of the state are Bauxite, Maganese
ore, Limestone and Lignite. As per provisional estimates
for the year 2001-02 value of minerals viz. Oil and Natural
Gas, major minerals, minor minerals were Rs. 4182 crore
Rs. 501 crore, Rs. 169 crore respectively. The total value
of all mineral products was Rs. 4852 crore during the
year 2001-02.

BANKING
The
number of commercial bank offices in the State was 3661
at the end of March, 2003. The aggregate deposit of these
commercial bank offices amounted to Rs. 71767 crore at
the end of March, 2003. The total credit advanced was
of the order of Rs. 32469 crore. The Credit-Deposit Ratio
(CDR) of the State was 45.24 per cent in March, 2003. |
